Without Effort
We all want to do it without effort, without discomfort.
Watch an athlete perform and it looks brilliant – the best performance, how did they get there? Through practice, which I am sure there were days they didn't want to do it, they didn't want to get up, or even pushed through some injury.
Much of getting what you want takes change. And change takes effort. When you put forth the effort, you get what you want.
The hard part is staying motivated when you don't see the immediate results. It takes delaying gratification. And that doesn't feel good. This is where the discomfort part comes in.
Comfort and change don't always go together. So when you think about what you want and how good that will feel and you are feeling miserable or hopeless in the process you quit, you delay, you avoid.
Practice discomfort. Practice effort. Practice what it takes to get what you want and that starts with changing how you think and feel about it all first.
