Life is full, but many times it doesn't give us that happiness we are looking for.
Instead we settle for temporary happiness, that nice glass of Cabernet, that freshly ground hot cup of coffee, that trip to Paris and those shoes with that dress.
But what happens when the wine glass is empty, the coffee is drank, and that dress is out of season?
Repeat. Of course, because if it made you feel good once it will again.
Are you experiencing a 'fulfillment gap?'
Bought the dress cause of how it made you feel when you tried it on and now it just hangs in the closet with the rest of them.
Ate that cookie because someone baked it and brought it into work, or the infamous I just deserve it, I 've been so good and now you're having regret from just that one cookie.
What is your fulfillment gap?
Mine used to be traveling. It was a very sneaky way to try to satisfy my happiness. It truly did bring me joy at the moment, but I would return to the same life, the same job, the same issues that were not making me happy. I would continue to talk about how I wanted that special man in my life, a different career, to buy a house, travel more.
I found I wasn't doing anything to make the changes happen in my life that I wanted. I was just filling the gap with travel.
What are your gap fillers? Do you recognize that you are just temporarily finding happiness with your choices and don't know where to start?
