Really what buffering is about is doing something to avoid something else because it makes you feel better. You think it is helping you, when really you are just masking, avoiding your life.
Trying to shove feelings that you aren't used to feeling away, ignoring them, trading them in for something else.
Buffering can be tricky to catch. Here are some examples of my clients and my own of how I buffer in my life:
By buffering, you just end up in the same place in your life. Nothing gained. Nothing changed. No results and oh yeh, that emotion that you were trying to avoid is still there.
